Cookies and local storage

Cookies are small records a website can store in your browser and send with later requests. Local storage keeps information in your browser for a website to read on later visits. Both can support website features, but they work differently.

Announcement display preferences

The website stores a date and display count on your device to limit how often the Zephyr announcement appears. It uses the local-storage key gy-zephyr-announcement-views-v1 and a daily limit of five automatic displays, based on Nairobi time. The stored counter does not contain the contact details entered in enquiry forms.

The count starts again for a new day when the announcement next becomes eligible. The stored record remains until replaced or cleared through your browser’s site-data controls. Clearing it can cause the announcement to appear again. If local storage is unavailable, the automatic announcement is skipped.

Security and staff sessions

Staff sign-in areas use session and security cookies to authenticate staff and protect requests. These support administration and are separate from public newsletter and enquiry submissions. Blocking necessary cookies may prevent staff sign-in or other protected features from working.

Videos and third-party content

Some pages include YouTube videos using the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie.com player and thumbnails served by YouTube. These still connect your browser to Google services, which can receive technical information and may use browser storage when you interact with the player. Other externally hosted images also require a connection to their providers.

External links, including WhatsApp and social networks, open services with their own cookie and privacy practices. This website does not currently include a dedicated advertising pixel or analytics tracking script.

Managing browser storage

Use your browser’s privacy or site-data settings to review, block or delete cookies and local storage for this website. You can also restrict third-party cookies. Controls and effects vary by browser; deleting website data may reset preferences or sign you out of staff areas.
